If you’re a mum, a business owner, or both- you’re probably used to putting yourself last.
Between kids needing snacks every 12 minutes, meetings that could’ve been emails, and trying to remember where you left your keys… the idea of building new healthy habits can feel laughable.
🚫 But you’re not lazy.
🚫 You’re not failing.
🚫 You’re just at capacity.
This isn’t a “get up at 5 AM and meditate” post. This is your real-life guide to feeling stronger, more energised, and more in control, without a total life overhaul.
Forget vague goals like “I just want to be healthier.” That won’t keep you going when your toddler’s melting down and your brain’s got 14 tabs open.
You need a reason that actually matters to you.
Try these:
“I want to feel stronger so I don’t wreck my back lifting my toddler.”
“I want to stop needing 4 coffees to survive the day.”
“I want to feel good in my skin, not for anyone else, but for me.”
💡 Pro tip: Attach an emotion to your goal 👉 confidence, freedom, peace, energy. Something worth showing up for.
You don’t need more hours. You need micro-moments of intentional action. Here’s how:
🕐 The 10-Minute Rule
No time for a full workout?
Do 10 minutes of movement. Walk. Squat. Stretch.
Bonus points if you sneak it in while the kids are eating or during a podcast.
🛁 Pair Habits with What You Already Do
Squat while brushing your teeth
Stretch during Netflix
Fill your water bottle when making tea
📆 Book It Like a Boss
Schedule movement like a meeting.
Even 10 minutes between calls counts.
If it’s not in the calendar, it doesn’t happen and we both know that.
Let’s be honest: motivation doesn’t survive school runs, sick days, or work chaos.
What you need are systems that take the thinking out of it.
💡 Environment Tweaks
Set up a “workout corner” in your lounge or bedroom
Keep your water bottle where you can see it
Prep smoothie ingredients the night before
Make your environment support the version of you you’re becoming.
👟 Make It Stupidly Easy
Lay out your clothes the night before
Have 2–3 meals you can rotate on autopilot
Use the same 5-minute warm-up every time to save decision energy
👉 Less friction = more follow-through.
You don’t need more discipline. You need fewer choices.
You don’t need a brand-new routine.
You need to stack small wins on top of what you’re already doing.
Start tiny. Keep going. Build up.
Example:
Week 1: Walk for 5–10 minutes a day
Week 2: Add 10 squats while the kettle boils
Week 3: Try a short dumbbell workout from my YouTube
🎯 Consistency beats intensity.
Three 10-minute sessions a week will do more for your strength (and confidence) than chasing one perfect hour that never happens.

Celebrating yourself matters. But let’s make sure your reward doesn’t send you back to square one.
Instead of:
“I worked out, so I deserve wine and takeout (and skipping the next one).”
Try:
Buy the book you’ve had saved for ages
Take a solo walk with your favourite podcast
Book a cafe hour without your laptop
Grab that new gym top or lifting straps you’ve been eyeing
Your rewards should reinforce your identity as someone who looks after her energy - not undo all the effort you’ve made.
Most habits live on autopilot. You don’t even notice them until they’re draining you.
Instead of trying to “cut bad habits,” swap them for better ones.
Try this:
Scroll loop before bed → swap for podcast + stretch
Bored snacking → keep chopped veg + hummus at eye level
Skipping meals all day → block lunch into your calendar like it’s a client
This isn’t about removing comfort. It’s about creating better defaults that give you the same (or better) relief - without the aftermath.
You’ll miss a day. You’ll fall off track.
That’s not failure, that’s life.
What matters is how quickly you come back to you.
You’re not trying to be perfect.
You’re trying to be present, for your body, your energy, your future self.
Every time you show up again (even if it’s just for 5 minutes), you’re building trust.
And that’s what real, lasting change is made of.
